unwavering

What does it really mean to be unwavering?  I heard a story recently by a man of great faith.  He was traveling, as he has for many years, and came across a young man, a muslim young man.  This man recruited the young chap to become his interpreter during his travels in a war stricken land.   Towards the end of their journey together the traveler began sharing the Truth of God’s love to the young muslim.  Upon hearing the words of Life, he was IMMEDIATELY heart-stricken.  He knew that the words he heard and the stories told were of Life and Truth.   The evangelist instructed him that if he made a decision to follow Jesus his friends, family and even government would turn on him.  Yet despite all of the ‘bad news’, the young man did not waver in any way.  I don’t think we, in our first world culture, have a clue of that type of cost.

Imagine making one simple but impacting decision that changed your life that drastically.  Nothing coming to mind?  Me neither.  That’s the thing about Jesus.  He did not come to be a support group, He didn’t die to give us aide in our time of suffering.  He came to bring life.  He came with the might of ten thousand Kingdoms.  He came to place our hands in to the Fathers, no matter the cost: His life for ours.

Listen, I know how easy it is to just simply read this and agree…and then move on.  But let the truth of God’s word penetrate into your spirit man.  He died.  For you, for me and for all mankind.  He made a way, though it may be difficult and cause one to exert a lot of energy, He made a way to a glorious tasting of Life Eternal with the Father.

These principles have me thinking, can I really place my problems on the same level for much longer?  Making my rent payment, or my seemingly insurmountable mountain of debt have much less effect on my demeanor.  If Jesus could die for me, then surely He cares for me far greater than letting me drown in financial spaghetti.  This thinking requires a ‘social recalibration’.  Let’s face it, everyone wants the latest iPad or iPhone or new car and that’s fine.  But should the focus of my ‘cries to the Lord’ be driven by these types of things?  I have a deep urgency in my spirit that is being shaped by God.  He is calling me to lift up my prayers even louder, and to fill the phrases with the pleading for those who don’t know Him.  A new wave, a tsunami so to speak, of God’s Love is upon this land.  My cry is to give as many people a life preserver or flotation device as are willing to receive one.  I think God is calling us back to a place of ALL OUT DESPERATION for Him and His Kingdom: the entire world may come against us, but as long as I have my Dad’s love I am unwavering.  No other force on this planet can move me but the Spirit of God.
