The Vault

What do you think of when you read that word, ‘vault’?  What comes to mind?  For me, I envision a chamber deep in the earth, sunken and swallowed by dark, heavy walls.  My mind also sees scenes from famous films, such as Oceans 11 or even Now You See Me.  I can see the bank safe or vault with its massive and thick door that is actually too heavy to be operated without the assistance of machinery or automation.  I picture the contents in these structures to be of the highest earthly value.  Worldwide, trillions of dollars and other currencies reside in them.  Benjamin Franklin is alive and well in his modern-day prison, but he’s got some cellmates in diamonds and gold filled to the ceiling.  I picture the thickness of the walls and the amount of resources it must take to build one of these behemoths.  In our town, I remember seeing the building process of a bank as I drove by it on a weekly basis.  At first, I thought it was a gas station until I noticed they were spending more time on the interior of this building before the exterior was even close to being completed.  Then it dawned on me that they most likely had to install the vault before anything else could be completed, otherwise the exterior would literally prevent it from fitting.

This word came like a leaf falling from a tree.  I never think of it (or them[leaves], oh how we take leaves for granted; but that’s a different blog with a different discussion), but when it landed at my feet I noticed the intrinsic beauty of it.  In my short, quiet times with the Father I have been trying to hear His voice clearly.  I sense this renewed passion for creativity rising in my heart and I started to think about where it comes from.  I mean, if you are a believer in Christ you obviously know that God is inherently and firstly ‘Creator’.  Did he not hang the stars in the heavens and call them good?  Or what of the earth and all its structures; oceans? rainbows? waterfalls? mountains, glorious mountains?  All Good.  And then at the crescendo, on Day 6, God created His masterpiece: A Man made in the image of Himself.  ‘God saw all that He had made; and it was very good.’ (Genesis 1.31)

Back to the vault.  I described my picture and idea of what a vault is but I feel there is a reason why this word has me thinking so deeply.  A vault has two goals, two purposes: to store precious and valuable goods, and secondly to keep them protected from the outside world.  I’ve come to a conclusion over the past few days, it may seem obvious now but here goes anyways: Our hearts are vaults. In them are stored the most beautiful intentions and ideas and passions.  I believe that the Father constructed a vault inside each and every one of us.  The depths of these vaults have not been seen or explored, even by ourselves.  Sometimes we are too afraid to venture that deep, sometimes we just don’t realize that there is more.  But my friends, only the Father knows the depths.  Only He can give you access and unlock the deepest door to a new corner in your heart.  Do you know why God looked at us and said His creation was very good?  Because out of His vault we were created.  He looked inside and searched the deepest and most precious room in His heart.  And when He looked at you, when He looked at me: He saw Himself.  He saw the treasures locked up in our hearts that He put there.  He saw the moment we realized there was more to our lives than just merely living, being and dying.

When you stop and consider all that is in your heart, what treasures do you sense waiting beyond?  Whatever they may be, I know they will blow your mind.  And better yet, they will put a smile on Papa’s face.

Final thought: What is the Creator creating in your life?   I love this topic and would love to hear and discuss.   Godspeed.
